OPEN STUDIO – ATELIER MONDIAL

FRIDAY 24.06.2022
Before they all finish their residencies in the coming weeks, the current Atelier Mondial guest artists open the doors of their studios this coming Friday and share with us what they have been producing during their stay in Basel.
Manami Hayasaki (Tokyo):
She used to make the most filigree silhouette sculptures from paper. Yet during her stay in Basel she remembered a flower of her childhood, the dandelion, which exists in two varieties in Japan – one of them being the invasive European variety. In her “Dandelion Smuggler” project, Hayasaki plays with the notion of borders, plants, and the TriRegion of Basel.
Elise Lafontaine (Canada):
The Canadian painter will share documentation of her new body of work – Make a circle sound like a new sun – created during her residency at Atelier Mondial for her first international solo exhibition, currently on view at Sothu, Zurich. Parallel to this, Lafontaine will present her ongoing research of the Goetheanum located on the hill in Dornach.
Anna Lugovska (Ukraine):
The curator and artist will show her recent art works created in the studio as well as the pictures of the murals she created for an exhibition in Geneva and Basel during her residency.
