OPEN CALL: 'ace Residency at Buenos Aires, Argentina

´acePIRAR Artist-in-Residence International Program aims to support all kind of contemporary artistic practices (including performance and curatorial proposals) through research and production residencies, promoting the exchange, debate, experimentation and collaborative work.

A program that provides time, space and guidance to explore expanded as well as traditional print media, while it connects the artists with the art scene of Buenos Aires, Argentina, one of the Latin America cultural capitals.

We offer different types of residencies to best fit each artist’s project.
o PRODUCTION
The Production Residences are intended to produce new work, a project or a site-specific installation with the possibility to show the finished work at the end of the stay. We welcome all kind of projects and encourage submitting those that question the singularity of the art object by using the reproducible capacity of printmaking, photography, new media, design and/or their interfaces, blurring their boundaries.
o EXPLORATION
The Exploration Residences, unlike the production residencies, emphasise the process over the presentation of the results, encouraging residents to get inspiration from the new experiences achieved through the interaction with other residents and the cultural environment that the city of Buenos Aires provides.
DURATION OF RESIDENCY
The program encompasses a period of 4-week residence. Slots can be selected here.

In a unique international partnership between Sabhal Mòr Ostaig, the National Centre for Gaelic Language, Culture and the Arts (Scotland) and the Jon Schueler Charitable Trust, with support from The Royal Scottish Academy, the successful applicant will have the opportunity to come and research, develop and produce work for 3 months in the dedicated artist’s studio in a spectacular island sea-shore setting overlooking The Sound of Sleat,on the west coast of Scotland, the place which so inspired Schueler as an artist.

The Scholarship is open to international artists (including Scottish and UK) working to the highest level of contemporary professional practice in a visual medium and with a particular interest in landscape and the environment. Artists must have completed formal arts education at least 3 years previously.

The annual (2013 -2020) visual arts scholarship has been set up in celebration and in memory of the life, work and artistic influence of internationally renowned artist and abstract expressionist, Jon Schueler (1916-1992), in recognition of his very special relationship with the landscape and environment of the Sound of Sleat.
