THIS IS ALL GOING TO BE WORTH SOMETHING, SOMEDAY

ENG – Beth Dillon, Australian artist currently in residency at the Embassy of Foreign Artists, will present a collection of objects. There, she will perform acts of accumulation and exchange that attempt to build a speculative portrait of the Geneva Free Ports. She is offering a cash reward for anecdotes, rumours and stories from DAF visitors who have had contact with the Free Ports.

Untill the 30th of March, the glass vitrines in front of building C1194, Route des Acacias 78-82 will host a series of these mysterious sculptures which are creating a temporary monument to works of art stored in the Geneva Free Ports. Beth hopes to start a conversation between objects made found bought sold traded stolen shipped stocked sent underground guarded by rifles smuggled in pockets scanned by cameras digitally verified accumulating value gathering interest waiting in the dark waiting to be seen.

Open Studio: Ahmed Mohsen Mansour

Cairo, Egypt / video, experimental animation and photography

Saturday, 24th of March 2018, 2-7pm
AiR Studio Rote Fabrik, B wing 1st floor, free entry

No time.
I always wonder why I no longer have enough time.
How to grasp and represent the passing of hours? Could I create alternative ways to measure and perceive time so it passes more slowly?

Ahmed Mohsen Mansour (*1987) is an Egyptian Artist based in Cairo and currently in residence at Rote Fabrik, Zürich, thanks to Pro Helvetia. Mansour has participated in several exhibitions and workshops within the fields of video, photography and animation in Egypt, USA, UK, Italy, Germany, France, Slovakia, Spain, Emirates and Saudi Arabia.

Mansour’s work is based on memories of events he has been involved in. Fascinated by the endless oscillation of the human condition, he looks at what can start as a triumph and turns into a manifesto of defeat, leaving a sense of what could have been. He distorts those phenomenons through diligent personal practice, leaving the viewer with a testament from the edges of his world.

Special thanks to Pro Helvetia, Anne-Laure Franchette & Sandra Norma.
